Chrysler reintroduced the convertible to the American market in 1982 after nearly a decade-long absence, positioning the LeBaron as both affordable and aspirational. For 1983, the automaker partnered with the luxury leather goods house Mark Cross to produce a limited-edition convertible that elevated the LeBaron with upscale trim and premium appointments. Just 1,520 examples of the Mark Cross Edition were built. With distinctive two-tone leather upholstery, a full suite of power features, and elegant proportions, the Mark Cross LeBaron embodied Chrysler’s early-1980s vision of attainable luxury motoring.
This 1983 Chrysler LeBaron Convertible Mark Cross Edition shows 68,230 miles. In 2023, the exterior was treated to a high-quality repaint, and in 2024 a new convertible top was installed. The factory Mark Cross two-tone leather interior remains intact, a hallmark feature that sets these rare convertibles apart. Powered by the 2.6-liter Mitsubishi Astron four-cylinder engine paired to a three-speed automatic transmission, this LeBaron is both stylish and usable. As one of the few surviving Mark Cross Edition convertibles, this example represents a rare opportunity to acquire a limited-production Chrysler from a pivotal era in American automotive history.
