Description
The 1982 Corvette marked the final chapter of the third generation (C3) Corvette, a design that debuted in 1968. While it retained the iconic "shark" styling, the 1982 model introduced several technological updates that hinted at the future of the Corvette line. Most notably, it featured the debut of Cross-Fire Injection, a dual throttle-body fuel injection system that improved fuel efficiency and performance over the carbureted engines of previous years. This system helped the L83 5.7-liter small-block V8 produce 200 horsepower — modest by modern standards, but a step forward in the early 1980s.
Production of the 1982 Corvette took place exclusively at Chevrolet's new Bowling Green, Kentucky plant, marking a transition from the old St. Louis facility. The sports car was available only as a coupe, with no convertible option offered. It came standard with the new 700-R4 four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. It also featured a fiberglass mono-leaf rear spring, introduced the year before, which reduced weight and improved ride quality.
This well-maintained, two-owner 1982 Corvette has multiple optional upgrades, including removable T-top roof panels, six-way power bucket seats, power locks, electric sport mirrors, and Gymkhana suspension.
