OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

Huntsville, Alabama — or “Rocket City,” as we know it — is home to NASA rocket-propulsion research and development. This special offering is once again a presentation of the unique, with American Muscle, British class, heavy post war iron, and race cars from multiple platforms all on offer. These cars are ready for blastoff, and all will be launched to new homes and garages as all lots are presented with NO RESERVE.

* * *      “A high-performance personal luxury car that commemorates Buick’s racing success.” The 1982 Buick Grand National marked the beginning of an iconic American performance legacy. Introduced as a limited-edition model built by Cars & Concepts to celebrate Buick’s success in NASCAR, the Grand National was named after the NASCAR Winston Cup Grand National Series.

Based on the Buick Regal platform, the 1982 Grand National featured a distinctive two-tone silver and charcoal gray paint scheme, unique badging, and a sportier interior. While most were equipped with a naturally aspirated 4.1-liter V6 engine, a handful were fitted with a turbocharged 3.8-liter V6, foreshadowing the high-performance direction the model would take in later years.

Though modest in performance compared to its successors, the 1982 Grand National laid the groundwork for what would become a muscle car legend. By 1984, Buick fully embraced turbocharging, and the Grand National evolved into a blacked-out street machine known for its stealthy looks and blistering speed, culminating in the legendary 1987 GNX.

The 1982 model remains a collector’s gem — just 215 produced — representing the genesis of Buick’s brilliant foray into turbocharged performance during the 1980s. Buick said it well: “Limited production. Unlimited appeal.” And this Grand National shows just 35,544 original miles.
