Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Introduced in 1966, the Fiat 124 Sport Spider was designed by American designer Tom Tjaarda at Pininfarina and combined elegant design with accessible performance. The car was based on the Fiat 124 sedan platform but featured a sleek, convertible body that quickly gained popularity, especially in the U.S. market.
By 1980, the Italian roadster had evolved into the 124 Spider 2000, named for its upgraded 2.0-liter DOHC inline-four engine, which delivered improved power and torque over earlier versions. The 1980 model marked a significant transition for the automaker, as Fiat began to shift production responsibilities more heavily to Pininfarina, which would eventually take over full production and marketing in the U.S. under their own name in 1983.
The 1980 Spider 2000 retained its rear-wheel-drive layout, five-speed manual transmission, and independent front suspension. And its timeless styling — with a long hood, short rear deck, and convertible soft top — made it a favorite among enthusiasts seeking affordable European flair.
