Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The Toyota FJ43 Land Cruiser is a legendary off-road vehicle that emerged from Toyota's broader Land Cruiser lineage, which began in the early 1950s as Japan's answer to the American Jeep. The FJ43 was part of the 40 Series, introduced in 1960, representing Toyota's commitment to building rugged, capable utility vehicles for demanding terrain worldwide.
The FJ43 variant was distinctive for its longer wheelbase compared to the FJ40, featuring a three-door wagon body style that offered slightly more interior space while retaining the series' trademark durability. Powered by Toyota's F-series inline-six engine — a 3.9-liter unit producing around 125 horsepower — it was built for reliability over outright power.
By 1979, the FJ43 featured a part-time four-wheel-drive system, solid front and rear axles, and leaf spring suspension — a setup prized for its simplicity and repairability in remote conditions. The FJ43 was primarily sold new in markets outside North America.
This FJ43L-KC model featured left-hand drive (K) and a 4-speed manual (C) when new but has been modified with small-block Chevy V8 power, a 4-speed automatic transmission, deep-water snorkel, auxiliary LED lighting, winch, and more.
This 1979 Toyota FJ43 Land Cruiser is now offered by the selling dealer with a clean Florida title.
