Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

The Land Rover Series III, produced from 1971 to 1985, epitomized rugged reliability with its enduring design and became the most popular of the series vehicles. Building on the Series IIA, it featured relocated headlights on the wings for international compliance and a modernized plastic grille replacing the traditional metal one. The 2.25-liter engine's compression was increased, providing a slight power boost. Notably, the Series III introduced synchromesh on all four gears and a redesigned, safety-focused interior with a molded plastic dashboard and relocated instrument cluster. Long-wheelbase models came standard with the sturdy Salisbury rear axle. Despite ceasing North American factory sales in 1974, a Series III was celebrated as the 1,000,000th Land Rover produced in 1976 and has since left a legacy as a versatile and beloved workhorse.
