Description

The second-generation Chevrolet Camaro was launched in mid-1970, just as the muscle car era was starting to come to an end. With increasing mandates regarding safety and emission standards, the Camaro evolved to keep the excitement alive, dubbed the “Super Hugger” for its unibody construction utilizing a bolt-in front subframe, A-arm and coil spring front suspension, and front anti-sway bar. Even more road-holding credentials were available in the form of the high-performance Z28, equipped with a special Z28 Sport Suspension, performance rear axle, and power brakes. Under the gently sloping hood lived a burly 350 cu-in V8 topped with a Quadrajet carburetor that produced 185 horsepower. Also setting the Z28 package apart was its color-keyed wheels, simulated air induction scoop, simulated fender louvers, a rear spoiler and dual sport mirrors. Today, second-generation Z28s are highly sought after for their combination of performance and handsome styling.
