Description

The Cadillac Seville, produced from 1976 to 2004, represented Cadillac's venture into the mid-size luxury car segment, offering a smaller-sized, premium alternative. It was succeeded by the STS in 2004 for the 2005 model year. Billed as the new "internationally-sized" Cadillac upon its introduction in mid-1975, the Seville was significantly lighter than the full-sized Deville, making it more agile and easier to park while still boasting Cadillac's full array of features. Despite its higher price point, exceeding that of any other Cadillac model (except the Series 75 Fleetwood factory limousines) at $12,479 or the equivalent of $68,000 today, the Seville enjoyed moderate success. Its introduction spurred the development of competitors such as the Lincoln Versailles and the Chrysler LeBaron (later renamed the Fifth Avenue after 1982). To ensure the quality of the initial production run, the first 2,000 units were all painted in Georgian silver and equipped with identical options, allowing for a smooth transition to building different configurations.
