Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

When it debuted in 1965, the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow marked a bold departure from tradition. Designed by John Polwhele Blatchley, its sleek, modern silhouette was paired with groundbreaking engineering. It was the first Rolls-Royce to feature unitary body construction, replacing the classic body-on-frame design. Technological upgrades included disc brakes, independent rear suspension, and a host of engineering innovations.

Under the hood, the Silver Shadow was powered by the venerable 6.75-liter L410 V8 engine, mated to a smooth-shifting, GM-sourced three-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. One of its most advanced features was a high-pressure hydraulic system, licensed from Citroën, which delivered self-leveling suspension and an exceptionally smooth ride. The Long Wheelbase (LWB) variant featured a four-inch-longer wheelbase than a standard Silver Shadow for greater rear seat room.

Inside, the Silver Shadow offered a sanctuary of handcrafted luxury. Connolly leather upholstery, deep-pile carpeting, and meticulously selected Circassian Walnut veneers created an atmosphere of refined opulence. Modern conveniences such as air conditioning, power windows, and superior sound insulation made it as comfortable as it was elegant.

The 1976 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow II LWB has been owned for over 30 years by the late father of the consignor, but it has been in long-term storage and should be considered a project car.
