Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
In 1950, Volkswagen introduced the Type 2 to satisfy growing demand for a spacious and versatile vehicle. Built on the foundation of the Type 1 Beetle, the Type 2—commonly known as the Transporter or “Kombi”—was available in a range of configurations, from the utilitarian panel van with no rear seats or side windows to the more luxurious Deluxe model. The Deluxe, often referred to as the “Samba” in certain markets, stood out with its 21 or 23 windows, seating for eight passengers, and a distinctive two-tone paint schemes.
Production of the original Type 2 T1 in Germany concluded in 1967 after nearly two million units had been sold worldwide. Yet, its iconic design endured in Brazil, where manufacturing continued until 1975
The 1974 Brazilian-built Type 2 T1 featured here has undergone a full restoration and Samba-style conversion by Old School Metal Cars. It blends vintage charm with modern convenience, including air conditioning and a suite of camping amenities: a mini fridge, sink with running water, two-burner electric stove, and a pop-up bed that transforms the interior into a comfortable sleeping area. A hidden 32-inch pop-up TV adds a luxurious touch, making this classic VW not just a nostalgic ride, but a fully equipped mobile retreat.
