Description

The Triumph TR6, produced from 1968 to 1976, marked a departure in design from its predecessors, adopting a sleek and modern silhouette under the direction of Karmann. This aesthetic transformation resonated strongly with automotive enthusiasts worldwide. Beyond its visual appeal, the TR6 introduced significant engineering advancements derived from the TR250/TR5 lineage. These included an aluminum semi-trailing arm independent rear suspension and rack-and-pinion steering, enhancing the car's handling dynamics and precision on the road. The TR6's powertrain featured a smooth inline-six-cylinder engine known for its seamless torque delivery and melodious exhaust note, further elevating the driving experience.

  • The car benefits from restorative work performed by the current owner, which includes:  

    • Overhauling the engine with a New Old Stock (NOS) block from The Roadster Factory, which was built with new pistons, crankshaft, camshaft, flywheel, clutch, springs, valves, sleeves, seals, air hoses, heater hoses, and balancing the rotating assembly  

    • Overhauling carburetors and transmission 

    • Refinishing the paintwork with PPG products after the body was stripped to bare metal by Baker Auto Paint of Mesa, Arizona, along with powder coating the front grill, wipers, ashtray, and battery clamp, and undercoating the car 

    • Overhauling the suspension and shocks 

    • Braking and suspension systems have been overhauled, including the left and right rear hubs, new shocks, uprated springs, ball joints, bushings, rebuilding the brake cylinders and brake booster, and replacing the steering wheel shaft nylon bearings 

    • The interior was reupholstered with parts sourced from The Roadster Factory, which include the seats, seat tracks, transmission tunnel plastic cover, wool carpet kit with thick felt underlayment, walnut dashboard, window channel kits, window regulators, Fat Mat Sound Control sound deadening in the passenger door 

    • A new wiring harness was sourced from The Roadster Factory in addition to taillight and turn signal lenses 

    • All five wheels were checked for trueness and powder coated in silver  

  • Please note that while the odometer displays just 3,402 miles at the time of listing, the true mileage is believed to be 103,402 miles

Ownership History 

The current owner of this 1974 Triumph reports purchasing the car from the original owner and their college roommate in 1991. The car was purchased new at Flint Motors of Phoenix, Arizona, in 1974.
