Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

The 1974 Jeep CJ-5 marked a pivotal moment in the evolution of the civilian Jeep line. Originally introduced in 1954, the CJ-5 was based on the military M38A1 and became one of the longest-running Jeep models, produced until 1983. By 1974, the CJ-5 had undergone several updates to meet changing consumer demands and regulatory standards.

This model year featured a more robust frame and improved suspension, enhancing off-road capability and ride comfort. It was offered with several engine options, including the AMC 232 and 258 inline-six engines, and the powerful 304 cubic inch V8, which gave the CJ-5 a significant boost in performance. The 1974 CJ-5 also benefited from AMC’s ownership of Jeep, which began in 1970, bringing more standardized parts and broader distribution.

Stylistically, the CJ-5 retained its iconic rounded fenders and short wheelbase, making it agile on trails. It was available in both soft-top and hardtop configurations, with various trim levels and accessories that appealed to both recreational users and rural workers.
