Description

“The way it looks is the way it goes. Camaro not only looks quick, sleek, and nimble. Camaro is.” Chevrolet’s 1974 Camaro brochure didn’t mince words, as the General was clearly proud of its pony car. And for good reason: The second-generation Camaro debuted halfway through the 1970 model year wearing a riveting European-influenced design. The long, raised hood, squared egg-crate grille, frenched-in headlights, and sloping rear deck was a major yet cohesive evolution of the previous-generation’s styling.

The 1974 model featured numerous engine options including a six-cylinder and four variations of the 350 cu-in V8, as well as the choice of three- or four-speed manuals or a Turbo Hydramatic automatic transmission. Variable-ratio power steering, coil-spring front and multi-leaf rear suspension, and front disc brakes came standard and provided excellent handing and braking performance. And occupants were coddled in foam Strato-bucket seats, with the driver looking past the sport steering wheel to a circular gauge cluster. It was an all-around performer, so it's no wonder that second-generation Camaros are highly sought after for their combination of performance and styling.

This 1974 Camaro is dressed as a first-generation SS tribute, and received a drivetrain rebuild, interior refresh, and full repaint around 12 years ago.

Ownership History

The consignor states, “This 1974 Camaro is dressed up as first-generation SS tribute. The interior is clean and like new, it starts and runs effortlessly, doesn’t overheat, and all gauges, lights, and wipers work. I’m the third owner since it was restored, and I’ve had it for two years. I’ve talked with the two previous owners, I bought it from the second owner who had purchased it for his son as a high school car. And I met the first owner at a local car show who said he used to use it for car shows and cruises. I bought it to participate in local shows and cruises and have had a lot of fun with it, but it’s time for something new.”
