Description

The second generation of Chevrolet’s roaring pony car debuted halfway through the 1970 model year wearing a riveting European-influenced design. The long, raised hood, squared egg-crate grille, Frenched headlights, and delicate chrome bumperettes of the early 1970-73 cars symbolize the purest of the breed amongst Camaro collectors. In Z28 trim, the generous engine offerings topped out at the high-performance 350 cu-in Turbo-Fire V8. Also setting the optional Z28 package apart was a sport suspension, 15-inch wheels, Positraction rear axle, power brakes, sport mirrors, and Z28 badging. Chevrolet's decision to drop the Z28 after 1974, which wouldn’t return until 1977, has made early second-generation Z28s highly sought after for their combination of performance and handsome styling.

Highlights

  • Second-generation Camaro featuring a desirable front and rear sheet metal conversion to resemble an earlier 1970-73 “split bumper” car

  • Final model year of the high-performance Z28 before its return in 1977

  • Features removable glass roof panels for open-air motoring
