Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Although the Mustang had undergone numerous styling and mechanical updates since its 1964½ debut, 1973 marked the final year of the first-generation design, closing out a legendary chapter in American automotive history. It was also the last year Ford offered a Mustang Convertible until its return a decade later in 1983, making these final year droptops especially sought-after by collectors. To meet new federal impact regulations, the 1973 model introduced a body-colored urethane front bumper integrated into a restyled grille, giving the car a more modern appearance while preserving its classic long-hood, short-deck proportions.
This particular 1973 Ford Mustang Convertible is finished in Medium Copper Metallic over a premium Ginger Sebring vinyl interior and matching soft top—showcasing one of the more elegant color combinations offered that year while being undeniably 1970s in flavor. The car was lovingly maintained by the consignor’s mother, who states it’s been driven sparingly during summer months and garage kept. After nearly 15 years of careful stewardship and countless memories, this Mustang droptop is ready for its next chapter.

Ownership History
This Mustang was purchased for the consignor’s mother in 2014. The cosigner states the vehicle has only been driven during the summer and has always been garaged. The car presents largely original, and the cosigner notes “the car is super nice” and “the car runs and drives amazing—it has plenty of power and is fast and fun!”
The cosigner shared the following, “The long story is my mom had the same car new from the showroom in ‘73—it was given to my half-sister on her graduation, and she totaled it a week later. My dad, 30 plus years later, found this one in New York state and bought it for her. It was her favorite car she owned.”
