Description
By its fourth year of production, the 1972 TR6 retained Giovanni Michelotti’s sharp styling while emphasizing torque, durability, and everyday usability over refinement, earning success in rallying and club racing. Built with bodies by Karmann in Germany, the TR6 became Triumph’s best‑selling TR. Production continued into 1976.
As part of a multi-year overhaul reported to have been completed in 2011, this '72 TR6 was refinished in its current Signal Red over a beige interior. The car was acquired by the seller in 2023 and subsequently upgraded. Its 2.5L inline-six features electronic fuel injection managed by a MicroSquirt ECU, and it breathes through a ceramic-coated exhaust manifold. A four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive delivers powers rearward, while Wilwood disc brakes at each corner handle stopping. Anti-sway bars, a rear-shock conversion, and adjustable trailing arm brackets.
Equipment includes a black soft top, re-plated exterior brightwork, LED lighting, a walnut dashboard veneer, a Moto-Lita wood-rim steering wheel, a roll bar, modern seat belts, and a RetroSound head unit with Bluetooth paired with aftermarket speakers.
This 1972 Triumph TR6 is now offered with a black fabric top boot and a clean North Carolina title in the seller’s name.
