Description

The introduction of the Paul Bracq-designed W114/115 /8 (“Strich Acht,” or stroke eight) New Generation models in 1968 set a new standard for Mercedes-Benz. This new design was available in sedan and coupe form, and Bracq’s elegant pillarless design for the coupe allowed all the windows to be lowered completely for open air motoring.

The 250C rode on a newly designed chassis that consisted of a ball joint independent front suspension with unequal-length A-arms and coil-over shocks, while new semi-trailing arms replaced the swing-arm of the past. Disc brakes all around were utilized for stopping these substantial cars. The 250C was powered by Mercedes’ M130 2.8-liter OHC inline-six producing 150 hp. Most 250C were destined for North America, and just 10,527 were produced between 1968 and ’72.

This 1972 250C is striking in resprayed Dark Olive (291) over Bamboo MB-Tex (704) as from the factory. The consignor acquired this uncommon coupe in 2023, then commissioned a comprehensive refurbishment by noted marque specialist Pierre Hedary. As Mercedes-Benz stated in its international 250C brochure, “These cars are built for people who like to emphasize their individuality, but who are not impressed by fashion fads.”
