Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

The second generation of Chevrolet’s roaring pony car debuted halfway through the 1970 model year wearing a riveting European-influenced design. The long, raised hood, squared egg-crate grille, Frenched headlights, and delicate chrome bumperettes of the early 1970-73 cars arguably symbolize the purest of the breed among Camaro collectors. While Chevrolet offered a range of powerful V8 engines as well as the Z28 performance package from the factory, owners seeking to exceed period OEM performance could do so through upgraded suspension components, braking systems, and drivetrains in “Pro Touring” builds. Widely popularized by Mark Stielow’s “Tri-Tip” 1969 Camaro which he ran in the 1993 One Lap of America competition, the trend of modifying Camaros to function as well as modern vehicles caught on among those who wanted to use their muscle cars for more than straight-line speed contests.
