Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

Four model years after a major redesign, the aerodynamic C3 Corvette was as beautiful as ever. The 1971 model wore a 182-inch, Coke bottle-shaped body that followed the classic long hood/short deck sports car design. Plus, it showed off flared, rounded fenders, a prominent flying buttress roofline flowing into a decklid spoiler, and just the right amount of brightwork on the bumpers, grilles, and—since 1970—egg crate-style side louvers. In short, this long C3 was both very unique and incredibly sultry.

And thanks to two 350 small-blocks and two optional 454 big-blocks, it was also a powerful beauty. However, the LS5 454 cu-in V8 was the thinking man’s tire fryer: 365 horsepower and a boatload of torque, without the high-maintenance solid-lifter valvetrain. And you could check the air conditioning box on the order form. So equipped with the standard four-speed manual transmission, the LS5 could easily outrun the high-strung small blocks.

This clean 1971 Corvette wears a custom repaint, is powered by the massive LS5 454 V8, and is said to have only traveled 45,069 miles from new.

Ownership History

This Corvette wears a special number plate from the state of Pennsylvania. The consignor states, “This LS5 454 four-speed Corvette was bought in 2012 on consignment from a small, private dealer in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, from the elderly first owner. That gentleman had the car repainted to the Butternut Yellow color, and it had Hooker headers/Super Comp side pipes installed as the only other visible change to the original car.”

“I’ve only put on 2,000 of its 45,069 total miles. Since moving to Omaha from Pittsburgh in 2019, the car’s only been driven about 50 miles, after I had it shipped out here in 2021. The car has been totally garage-kept since I’ve owned it, is stored with gas stabilizer every winter, and has not seen rain, snow, or nighttime driving. It is rust-free and very clean, and I always babied it when I drove it. It was inspected by a classic car shop in Omaha last June, and it’s presumed to be numbers-matching. It sounds really nice with those pipes, and it is a solid driver.”
