Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The 1970 Chevrolet Corvette marked the introduction of the powerful 454 cubic-inch V8 engine, which replaced the previous 427. The LS5 produced 390 horsepower, and its high 500 lb-ft of torque output allowed for impressive acceleration and top speeds, solidifying the Corvette's reputation as America's sports car.
The 1970 Corvette was part of the third generation (C3) of Corvettes, which began in 1968 and continued until 1982. The C3 models were known for their distinctive "shark" styling, which included a long hood, a short rear deck, and a sleek, aerodynamic profile. The '70 model featured several updates from its predecessors, including new fender flares to reduce rock damage and redesigned seats for improved comfort.
Production of the 1970 Corvettes was delayed due to a labor dispute, which pushed the release of the new model to February 1970. Despite this delay, the Corvette continued to be popular among enthusiasts, although production numbers were lower than previous years. Of the 17,316 Corvettes produced for the 1970 model year, 6,648 were convertibles, and a combined 4,473 coupe and convertible buyers paid up for the 454.
