“This is the way fun is going to be.” Pontiac advertised the LeMans as an economical alternative to its costlier sibling, the GTO. Pontiac discovered selling GTOs laden with options was more profitable, but also priced America’s first muscle car out of reach of many potential buyers. The LeMans was the spiritual successor to the original 1964 GTO—simple, basic fun, especially when powered by the optional "J30” 350 cu-in V8, generating 265 horsepower. The LeMans Hardtop Coupe on offer was optioned with the 350 cu-in V8 and the three-speed automatic transmission. Specified in the popular combination of Code 51 Liberty Blue Poly paint with Code 257 Parchment vinyl interior, factory options include Air Conditioning, and the AM Radio is enhanced with an aftermarket sound system with rear shelf speakers.

Ownership History 

Built the fourth week of November 1968 at the Freemont, California plant, this LeMans was sold on 17 July 1969, by the Talmadge "Babe" Wood Company in Santa Rosa, California. According to the purchase paperwork, the original owner was Bettye Williams of Petaluma, California who traded in a 1960 Pontiac Four-Door Sedan for the new LeMans. According to California state registration cards that accompany the car, Williams owned this LeMans through at least 1978. Today, this well-preserved LeMans retains its original color combination of Liberty Blue over Parchment and includes its window sticker, sales order, and most importantly, the rare original warranty Protect-O-Plate.
