Building on its 1954 origins and military M38A1 heritage with its rounded fenders, short wheelbase, and durable construction, by 1969 the CJ-5 had become one of Kaiser Jeep’s most successful models—appealing to both working owners and a growing recreational 4x4 community. That year’s CJ‑5 offered several engines, with the standout being the Buick‑sourced 225ci Dauntless V6, which provided strong torque and far better performance than earlier four‑cylinder options. Incremental improvements in comfort, electrics, and options signaled Jeep’s shift from utilitarian roots toward leisure use.
This 1969 CJ-5 received refurbishment work in 2022 and was subsequently acquired by the seller in October 2023.
The body has been refinished in gray and accompanied by a fabricated steel hardtop finished in black. Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels by a carbureted 225ci “Dauntless” V6 mated to a 3-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Pro Comp 15” alloy wheels are mounted with 32” tires, and braking is provided by drums at each corner. Inside, two bucket seats and rear jump seat cushions are upholstered in black vinyl.
This CJ-5 is now offered with Louisiana registration in the seller’s name.
