Description

In 1969, Ford introduced the Mustang Mach 1, instantly placing itself among the most hallowed names in its long history. This high-performance variant was available with a 351, 390, or a 428 cu-in V8 engine, housed in the sleek SportsRoof fastback coupe. The Mach 1 was outfitted with a pin-locked hood featuring a scoop finished in matte black, competition suspension, chrome exhaust tips and gas filler cap, and was often specified with a louvered rear window. As a replacement for the GT models, the Mach 1 became a fan favorite due to its blend of straight-line acceleration and NASCAR-inspired handling. The popularity of the Mach 1 was so strong that the GT name did not return to the Mustang lineup until 1982.

Highlights

  • Refinished in Candyapple Red with black and gold stripes over a Black Knit Vinyl interior under prior ownership

  • While the car originally came with a 428 Super Cobra Jet Ram Air engine, the current engine is said to be a replacement 428 block, which was built using authentic parts correct to the Super Cobra Jet specification, with the block being restamped to match the car

  • Equipped with a Super-Toploader four-speed manual transmission

  • A finely restored example with numerous replicated paint and chalk markings, completed in 2015 under previous ownership

  • Deluxe Marti Report confirming original build details

  • Please note that while the five-digit odometer displays just under 61,000 miles at the time of listing, the true mileage is unknown
