Description
Celebrated for its short‑wheelbase proportions, muscular styling, and place as one of the most distinctive performance cars of the late muscle‑car era, the AMC AMX has become a standout among collectors seeking something beyond the traditional Detroit Big Three offerings. Combining compact dimensions with V8 power and factory motorsports pedigree, the AMX offers a unique entry into the American performance canon.
This modified ;69 AMC AMX is said to be the result of a seven‑year, home‑built refurbishment completed in 2022. Refinished in black paint accented by green stripes, the subframes and undercarriage are finished in coordinating black and green. Power comes from a 390ci V8 featuring Indy cylinder heads, an Indy aluminum intake manifold, Howard’s solid‑lifter camshaft, and dual polished Edelbrock four‑barrel carburetors topped by chrome air cleaners.
The engine is paired with a TorqueFlite 727 3‑speed automatic transmission modified with a reverse‑pattern manual valve body and 2,500‑rpm stall torque converter, sending power to a 9-inch rear end with 3.90:1 gearing. The chassis has been upgraded with a Chassisworks Mustang II–style front suspension, rack‑and‑pinion steering, coil‑over rear shocks, and four-wheel Wilwood disc brakes.
Inside, customized black cabin features green accents, TMI leather bucket seats with 5‑point harnesses, a a six‑point roll bar, a modified dashboard, AutoMeter gauges with a GPS speedometer, Vintage Air climate control, and more as pictured in the gallery. This AMX has earned multiple national and regional accolades, including American Motors Association concours awards and multiple AutoRama honors.
This modified 1969 AMC AMX is now offered with a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.

Servicing
According to the seller, this AMX was completed over a seven‑year, home‑built refurbishment finished in 2022. The work was performed by the owner rather than a professional restoration shop, and as such there are no service invoices, build sheets, or formal restoration documentation on hand beyond an insurance appraisal and show‑award history. Subsequent use has reportedly been limited primarily to shows and events.
