Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The Pontiac Firebird debuted in 1967 as Pontiac’s answer to the booming pony car market, joining the ranks of the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro. Built on GM’s F-body platform, the Firebird distinguished itself with aggressive styling, performance-oriented engineering, and a lineup of potent V8 engines. By 1968, the Firebird had refined its identity with subtle design updates, improved safety features, and a continued focus on delivering a thrilling driving experience.
The 1968 model year brought enhancements like a new front-end design, Astro Ventilation, and revised suspension geometry. Available in coupe and convertible configurations, the Firebird offered a range of trims and powertrains, from the inline-six to the high-performance 400 models. Its blend of unique style, muscle, and everyday usability made it a standout in the segment.
This 1968 Pontiac Firebird convertible has remained under current ownership since 2000 and is finished in metallic red over black vinyl with a black convertible top. Power is provided by a professionally built 467 cu-in Pontiac V8 mated to a Muncie M21 four-speed manual transmission and a 3.73 Positraction rear differential. With upgraded suspension, Flowmaster exhaust, and original interior, it’s a well-preserved but tastefully modified example of an American icon.
