Description
“Just when you think you’ve seen everything, Ford lights up the landscape with a whole new line — Torino!” The 1968 Ford Torino was introduced as part of Ford’s intermediate line, replacing the Fairlane as the upscale model. Named after the Italian city of Turin, the Torino was designed to offer a blend of performance and style, with a new body design with a longer, wider look than its predecessor. Available in fastback, hardtop, and convertible bodies, Torino featured a sleek distinctive grille and dual headlights. The shape worked; the 1968 Ford Torino fastback had a notable advantage in NASCAR, due to its aerodynamic design. Drivers like David Pearson captured numerous victories behind the wheel of a Torino, helping Ford secure the Manufacturer’s Championship in 1968 and ’69.
The Torino’s interior was designed for comfort and style, with options for bucket seats, a center console, and various trim packages. Standard power was a new 302 cu-in V8 with the SelectShift Cruise-O Matic three-speed automatic transmission a popular option.
Combining style, flash, and a touch of luxury, this original condition 1968 Torino Hardtop captures what Ford exclaimed: “Torino — all new and all excitement!”
