Description

The 1968 Dodge Charger is an iconic American muscle car that marked a turning point in automotive design and performance. Introduced as part of Dodge’s B-body lineup, the new and improved second-generation Charger featured a dramatic redesign from its 1966-67 predecessors. Its most distinctive feature was its “Coke bottle” styling — curved body lines with a fastback roof, recessed grille, and hidden headlights — giving it a sleek, aggressive look.

Under the hood, the 1968 Charger offered a range of powerful engines, from the base 318 cubic-inch V8 to the legendary 426 Hemi, making it a favorite among performance enthusiasts.

The Charger gained pop culture fame in the film Bullitt, where it served as the villains' ride in an unforgettable car chase, and later as the hero car in TV's The Dukes of Hazzard. The automotive press loved it too. Hi-Performance Cars magazine called it “Detroit’s answer to the street racer’s dream,” and Car Craft added: “The Charger’s got the look — and the muscle to back it up.”

This 1968 Charger was refinished in its original Avocado Green Metallic paint approximately 25 years ago, and its 318 V8 engine was rebuilt in 2007, when it also received a new headliner, seat covers, and door panels. In 2024, the car was equipped with new rally wheels, BFGoodrich Radial T/A P215/65R15 tires, and power four-wheel disc brakes.

Ownership History

The Texas seller of this 1968 Dodge Charger has owned it since July 2003. Seller says, “This a 25-foot queen — looks perfect from 25 feet. At least a 25-year-old Earl Scheib-type of paint job. Some rust in typical places along with some average body work. Headlight covers function fine. I have owned the car since 2003, and the odometer was stuck when I bought it; I’ve put maybe 1000 miles on it since. I crank this baby up once a week and drive it around the block. I owned a 1969 Charger back in 1974, and I've kept this one for sentimental reasons. Time for someone else to relive their teenage years.”
