Description

Designed to compete against the Ford Mustang, the Chevrolet Camaro became a muscle car icon. Needing a name starting with “C,” Chevrolet derived “Camaro” from a French word for “friend.” First launched in 1967, the new Camaro was available with a variety of engine opinions, from the entry-level inline-six all the way up to the potent 396 cu-in V8. Not only a straight-line performer, but the new Camaro was also competitive in the SCCA Trans-Am series which spawned distinctive models offering turn-key sports car performance.

This first-year Camaro looks stock on the outside but packs a 6.0-liter LS V8 engine from a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado. Originally a base model California-built Emerald Turquoise V8 Camaro with heater delete, it’s now painted an attractive sunburst orange and now features power front disc brakes and power steering. This long-time West Coast car has been upgraded with RS trim and stripe, RS grille with electric headlight doors, and a Deluxe interior with Vintage Air air conditioning added. A late-model six-speed overdrive manual transmission just adds to the enjoyment!
