Description
The Austin-Healey 3000 MkIII BJ8, introduced in 1964, marked the final and most refined evolution of the iconic British sports car line. Produced until 1967, the BJ8 was the most powerful and luxurious variant of the 3000 series, featuring a 2.9-liter inline-six engine that delivered 150 horsepower—thanks to a new camshaft and twin SU HD8 carburetors. This upgrade allowed for a top speed of over 120 mph, making it a true grand tourer.
The MkIII also introduced significant improvements in comfort and convenience. It came standard with a walnut-veneer dashboard, wind-up windows, and a more spacious interior, catering to the growing demand for performance cars with luxury features. The suspension was revised for better ride quality, and servo-assisted brakes became standard, enhancing drivability.
This 1967 BJ8 was acquired by its current owner in 1986 and received refurbishment work in 2012, which consisted of removing the body from the frame before being refinished in its current shade of British Racing Green and reassembled. The car is fitted with a black soft top, 15” knock-off wire wheels, and a stainless-steel exhaust system.
