Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

Chrysler entered the booming muscle car craze of the mid-1960s with the Plymouth Barracuda in 1966 to counter the stratospheric sales of the Ford Mustang. Alongside the Barracuda, aimed at up-market offerings like the AMC Marlin, was the all-new Dodge Charger – a sleek two-door hardtop based on the Dodge Coronet’s 117 inch wheelbase. Distinctive features of the Charger included its “electric shaver” grille with concealed headlights, fluted sides, and full-width taillight with “Charger” spelled out across the rear panel. Designed with an emphasis on the growing personal luxury car segment, the Charger received a standard center console dividing the front and rear bucket seats and wall-to-wall carpeting as well as myriad luxury options such as air conditioning, AM/FM radio, cruise control, power steering, and power door locks.  Today, well-kept first-generation Chargers like the car on offer can be satisfying drivers and an enticing and uncommon alternative to the other pony cars of the era.
