Description

After more than a decade of success with the Corvette, Chevrolet introduced the optional 427 big-block for 1966, a decision responsible for keeping the Corvette at the top of American-built sports cars. Offering identical displacement to its Cobra competitor, the Corvette remained a refined option better suited for everyday use. Setting new sales records, 1966 Corvettes would be ordered predominantly in Convertible configuration with over sixty-four percent of all vehicles delivered as such. Coupes, like this example lost their roof vents and rocker panels were now ribbed and ready to accommodate an optional side exit exhaust. With one of the most highly regarded designs in automotive history, the C2 Corvette has proved to be a hugely successful platform for ‘restomodding,’ where customers pair beautiful, vintage styling with modern enhancements that improve drivability.

This car is part of the Retro Motors Collection, which comprises over 30 cars largely from the 1950s through today, with a focus on American muscle and high-powered European sports cars. View the full collection here.
