Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

Jeep's 1965 sales brochure called its J-100 Series two- and four-wheel-drive models "Unstoppable" and "Classic beauty built for duty.” While that may still be true, most classic Wagoneers enjoy a more leisurely lifestyle these days.

Introduced in November 1962 for the 1963 model year, the Jeep Wagoner was a successor to the Willys Jeep Station Wagon that had been built since 1946. The Wagoneer was designed by industrial designer Brooks Stevens and engineer Dave Nutting, and it was one of the first vehicles to combine four-wheel drive capabilities with the amenities of a passenger car — an early iteration of what we now call a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV).

The Wagoneer was built on the Jeep SJ chassis shared with Jeep Gladiator/J-Series trucks, and it featured a squared exterior design with a spacious interior that included two bench seats and a rear cargo area. Under the hood, the two- and four-wheel-drive models were powered by a 230 cubic-inch Tornado inline six-cylinder engine that produced 140 horsepower. The engine could be paired with either a three-speed manual transmission or GM Turbo Hydramatic 400 (TH400) automatic.

This four-door 1965 Jeep Wagoneer J-100 4x4 was brought out of long-term storage in 2021 and made roadworthy again by its new owner.

Ownership History

This garage-kept 1965 Jeep Wagoneer is offered from The Burnyzz Collection of no reserve automobiles. “The original owner purchased it new from PennMar Motors in LaVale, Maryland. He never married and had no children, so when he passed away, he left the Wagoneer to his neighbors, who were like family. They titled the Jeep, stored it in their garage, and never drove it. The third owner purchased the Wagoneer in January 2021 and did all the mechanical work to make it roadworthy again.”
