Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The 1964 Pontiac GTO is widely credited with igniting the muscle car era, offering big‑engine performance in an intermediate‑size package. Conceived by Pontiac engineers including John DeLorean, the GTO challenged GM’s internal ban on large engines in intermediate cars by offering it as an option package on the Tempest Le Mans, rather than as a standalone model.
Whether in a hardtop coupe, pillared coupe, or convertible body style, the GTO meant business with a potent 389ci V8. A heavy‑duty suspension and sporty styling cues further set it apart from its siblings. It was one of the most revolutionary American vehicles ever made, and still stands as a quick and highly-desirable muscle car today.
This 1964 Tempest Le Mans GTO Convertible, originally a standard single-carbureted three-speed car, is now powered by a 389ci V8 fitted with a Tri-Power setup, which is mated to a Muncie M20 four-speed manual transmission. The car is finished in its factory-correct Silvermist Gray Iridescent paint with a power-operated black soft top, twin non‑functional hood scoops, dual exhaust, GTO badging, and optional spinner-style wheel discs. Interior features include factory-correct black vinyl bucket seats and door trim, an optional padded dashboard with engine‑turned dash insert, and black carpet.
This 1964 Tempest Le Mans GTO Convertible is now offered at no reserve by the selling dealer with PHS documents and a clean Florida title.
