Description

Introduced in 1962, the British-built MG MGB roadster was designed as a replacement for the MGA and quickly became one of the best-selling sports cars of its time. The Mk I, produced until 1967, is particularly cherished for its simplicity, reliability, and timeless design.

The 1964 model featured a 1.8-liter inline-four engine producing around 95 horsepower. This engine, paired with a four-speed manual transmission, allowed the MGB to reach a top speed of approximately 105 mph from the factory. The car's performance was complemented by its lightweight construction, with a unibody design that was innovative for its era. This design not only improved handling but also made the car more rigid and safer.  The MGB Mk1's styling was a blend of classic British elegance and sporty appeal, featuring a chrome grille, wire wheels, and a sleek, low-slung body. The interior was relatively simple but functional, with comfortable bucket seats and a straightforward dashboard layout.

This two-owner 1964 MG MGB Mk I has been in the same California family for 61 years. Originally painted Iris Blue, it was repainted Old English White at some point. The car has been garaged since 1973 and was refurbished approximately 15 years ago — including rebuilding the engine — and has been a weekend-only car since.
