Description
The all-new 1963 Corvette was simply beautiful on the outside, and beautifully designed inside. Available as a coupe or convertible, the C2’s low, wide body featured a seductive aerodynamic design by Bill Mitchell and Larry Shinoda. Corvette engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov’s new chassis had both strength and a low center of gravity, and combined with an all-new independent rear suspension with transverse leaf springs and a capable front suspension, it provided incredible handling. And the driver-centered cockpit offered comfortable seating, informative gauges, and effortless style that rivaled the best European sports cars.
The majority of Corvette drivers chose one of five carbureted 327 V8s, which were available in 250-, 300-, and 340-horsepower versions. However, 2,610 buyers selected the L84 option, which rewarded them with a 327 equipped with a solid-lifter valvetrain, special Duntov camshaft, and mechanical fuel injection. Motor Trend tested a 1963 “fuelie” and exclaimed, “0 to 60 in 5.8 seconds…We thought the old model cornered darn well, but there’s no comparing it to this new one.”
This fuel-injected, four-speed Corvette is one of only 2,610 built in 1963. It wears stunning red paint over a black interior, features a white convertible top, and also comes with a red hardtop.
