Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
A 1963 Corvette split-window coupe is one of the world’s most desirable cars. That first C2 wore an incredibly seductive body — but it was the one-year-only split rear window that made this car a legend.
Underneath, Zora Arkus-Duntov’s chassis had both strength, and a low center of gravity. It was complemented by Corvette’s very first fully independent suspension, as well as the driver’s choice of 327 V8 power levels and a manual or automatic transmission. The two top engines — the 340-horsepower carbureted L76 and the 360-horsepower fuel-injected L84 — had special Duntov camshafts, solid-lifter valvetrains, and 11.25 to 1 compression ratios for ultra-high performance.
Motor Trend tested a 1963 “fuelie” and exclaimed, “0 to 60 in 5.8 seconds…” and Road & Track said of the new suspension, “In a word, the new Sting Ray sticks! Whether you slam the car through an S-bend at 85 or pop the clutch at 5000 rpm at the drag strip, the result is the same — great gripping gobs of traction.”
This 1963 split-window coupe is finished in its factory-correct combination of Silver Blue over blue upholstery. It was reportedly refurbished in the 1990s, retains a correct 340-horsepower 327ci V8 engine, and its carburetor was swapped for a Rochester mechanical fuel-injection system to achieve the top-spec L84’s lofty 360 horsepower. Power is sent through an M20 1965–67 Corvette four-speed manual transmission.
This fuel-injected split-window Vette is now offered by the selling dealer as part of the Burnyzz Collection of January vehicles
