Description

The Chevrolet Biscayne, introduced for 1958 as a budget-friendly alternative in Chevy’s lineup, was named after a 1955 Motorama concept car and Biscayne Bay in Florida. It was designed to offer the size and power of a full-size car without the luxury trimmings of the more upscale Bel Air, Impala, or Caprice model.

Produced by General Motors from 1958 to '75 and typically available as a two- or four-door sedan, the Biscayne was especially popular with fleet buyers — like police departments and taxi services — due to its durability and low cost. Despite its utilitarian focus, the model could be equipped with powerful V8 engines, including the legendary 409 (famously immortalized by the Beach Boys) and 427 cubic-inch big-blocks, making it a sleeper favorite among drag racers and performance enthusiasts.

The 1962 model year featured a clean, squared-off design with minimal chrome trim and a utilitarian interior. The two-door sedan, often referred to as a “post” car due to its fixed B-pillar, was especially favored by drag racers for its lighter weight and rigid body structure.

This 1962 Chevrolet Biscayne Two-Door Sedan Street Rod not only looks the part, but it is powered by a 502 cubic-inch Ram Jet V8 that’s mated to a 700R4 Stage III four-speed automatic transmission with upgraded clutches, bands, and steels to handle up to 600+ horsepower and 500+ lb-ft of torque.
