Description
Introduced in 1950 by the Morgan Motor Company, the Plus 4 was designed as a larger, more powerful evolution of the Morgan 4/4, featuring a sturdier chassis and a Triumph TR engine. The Plus 4 retained Morgan’s hallmark construction: an ash wood frame combined with steel panels, giving it a distinctive vintage aesthetic and exceptional handling. Its long bonnet, sweeping fenders, and exposed wheels reflected pre-war styling, even as other manufacturers embraced modern designs. This deliberate retro approach made the Plus 4 a favorite among enthusiasts who valued tradition over trends.
The power-to-weight ratio of this particular Plus 4 has been greatly increased by a 5.7L LS1 V8, which sends power to the rear wheel through a Tremec 6-speed manual transmission and Dana rear axle. Aftermarket dampers hold late-model 15” Morgan alloy wheels, and stopping power is provided by discs at each corner. The body is refinished in green with black fenders and wears a black soft top or red bimini top, the latter of which complements the reupholstered red leather interior.
This LS1-powered Morgan Plus 4 was acquired by the seller in August 2024 and is now offered with side curtains, two tonneau covers, a car cover, some spare parts, and a clean Arizona title in the seller's name that lists it as a 1961 model.
