For a second consecutive year, General Motors completely redesigned the Chevrolet passenger car lineup to feature more extravagant “slimline design” styling for 1959. Sharing a new X-frame chassis with the Sixty-Two line of Cadillacs, the Impala was longer and wider with its tailfins now protruding outward rather than upward, punctuated by distinctive teardrop-shaped taillights at the rear. Ensuring the interior was just as eye-catching as the exterior, Chevrolet fitted the Impala with a sporting dashboard and two-spoke steering wheel, textured metal interior trim, and vibrant vinyl and fabric-trimmed bench seats. The Impala broke off to become its own complete line comprised of a Sport Sedan, 4-Door Sedan, Sport Coupe, and Convertible with no shortage of available power ranging from the standard inline-six to Rochester mechanically fuel-injected “Ram-Jet” V8s. Beloved for their single model year styling, 1959 Impalas are instant classics and a charming throwback to Jet Age design.

This car is part of the George Foreman Collection, which comprises over 50 cars from the 1930s through today, with a focus on American classics and late-model sports cars.

Additionally, bidders should carefully review the photos of each lot in the collection, which may highlight the oxidation of metal components certain vehicles sustained as the result of a garage fire caused by a golf cart battery in March 2019. Although none of the vehicles sustained fire damage from the fire itself, the negative cosmetic effects of the corrosive soot vary greatly from vehicle to vehicle and can be observed in the photo galleries of each lot. All lots are sold as is, where is, and bidders are responsible for any desired diligence before placing a bid.
