Description

“It’s the new ‘Double-Life’ GMC!” No longer just a workhorse, the 1958 GMC 100 Series trucks were some of the first dual-purpose vehicles, tough enough for real work, yet fashionable enough for a night on the town. More than just bold styling and chrome trim, it was also one of the first pickups to offer quad headlights, a design element that would become popular for years to come. Inside, the cabin was simple and comfortable, with durable materials designed to withstand the rigors of daily use. The GMCs were also available with drivetrains its Chevy siblings did not offer, including a GMC-branded 336 cu-in Pontiac engine V8. The truck's robust construction and practicality made it a favorite among businesses and tradesmen who also wanted to stand out from the crowd.

This 1958 GMC 100 1/2 Ton Pickup has been nicely updated with an engine and transmission from a 2006 Chevy truck, as well as the bed from a newer Chevy. It’s been shown extensively and driven on the Hot Rod Power Tour – a true double-life GMC.
