Description
The 1957 Studebaker Golden Hawk was the pinnacle of Studebaker’s Hawk series, blending luxury with high performance during an era of bold automotive styling. Introduced in 1956 with a Packard 352ci V8, the Golden Hawk transitioned in 1957 to Studebaker’s own 289ci V8, enhanced by a McCulloch supercharger. This setup delivered 275 horsepower, matching the previous year’s output while reducing weight for improved handling. With a 0–60 mph time around 9 seconds and a top speed near 117 mph, it rivaled America’s best performance cars, earning a reputation as a precursor to the muscle car era. Stylistically, the Golden Hawk featured a bold egg-crate grille, hood scoop, and fiberglass tailfins. It was marketed as a “family sports car,” offering seating for five and upscale amenities like an engine-turned dashboard. This Golden Hawk is one of 4,356 units produced for the 1957 model year, and the seller reports that a body-off-frame refurbishment was performed in 2019. The engine and body are numbers-matching, consistent with the original specifications as documented in the factory production order copy from the Studebaker Museum. Refinished in gold with white accents, the car is powered by a rebuilt supercharged 289ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Disc brakes have been fitted up front, and the interior features seating surfaces upholstered in white with pleated black centers.
This 1957 Studebaker Golden Hawk is now offered with a Studebaker National Museum build sheet, some service records, owner’s and shop manuals, a Golden Hawk model car, and a Texas title in the seller’s name that lists “Mileage exceeds mechanical limits” under the remarks section.

Ownership History
This 1957 Studebaker Golden Hawk is said to have received a body-off-frame refurbishment in 2019 and was acquired by the seller in August 2023.
From the seller: "The frame-off restoration was completed during the prior owner’s stewardship. He sold the car because his mechanic passed away and the shop couldn’t provide documentation of the work—the mechanic wasn’t great with paperwork. I had the car inspected before purchase, and the inspector visually confirmed the rebuilt condition. When I saw the car in person, it was clearly a frame-off restoration—especially evident in the suspension and rubber components."
