Description
The 1957 Chrysler New Yorker debuted Virgil Exner’s bold Forward Look design with sweeping fins, a lower beltline, and expansive glass. Chrysler invested heavily in a complete redesign, resulting in a unified, modern aesthetic that helped the brand shed its conservative image. The model introduced major engineering advancements, most notably the Torsion-Aire torsion‑bar front suspension, which improved handling without sacrificing ride comfort, and the new TorqueFlite three‑speed automatic transmission.
Widely regarded as Chrysler’s most glamorous offering of the era, the 1957 New Yorker played a key role in establishing the company as a design leader in late‑1950s American automotive culture.
This New Yorker four-door sedan has been refinished in metallic red over a reupholstered gray interior. It features a B-Series 400ci V8 from a 1970s Chrysler model that is mated to a three-speed automatic transmission with a push-button gear selector. Wooden armrests have been added to the door panels, and they are joined by wooden dashboard trim that houses a CD stereo with Bluetooth connectivity. Additional features include amber driving lights, 15” steel wheels with bright covers, and power-assisted steering and drum brakes.
This 1957 Chrysler New Yorker is now offered with a clean Iowa title in the seller’s name.
