Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

On occasion, it is the story that makes the car, rather than performance figures, extensive options lists, and high MSRP. Quite often, for low-mileage cars, this case. Why weren’t they driven, why were they bought, who owned them, and how were they found? This 1956 Buick Super Convertible, finished in Claret Red over Red Cordaveen with just 5,566 original miles, has quite the story! Purchased from Giuffre Buick of Springfield, Illinois, by 21-year-old Joseph Moffat on 2 February 1956, this Super Convertible with its famous four fender ports was driven to and from his work as a draftsman at the Allis-Chalmers Machine Company. Moffat had been born with and still suffered from various medical issues at the time, including heart problems due to Rheumatic fever. Concerned about fainting while driving, Moffat’s father drove him to and from work. When his father passed in 1959, the car was parked and stored under Moffat’s ownership until his passing in 2001.
