The MG TF represents the final swan song of the venerable T-Series. With its introduction, the line became more modernized and served as the perfect stepping stone from the TD to the MGA that would be introduced in 1955. The TF sat three inches lower than its predecessor and had a sportier sloped grille flanked by swooping fenders with integrated headlights. Initially launched with a 1,250 cc XPAG engine, later cars were powered by the 1,466 cc XPEG engine offering improved performance. Either engine is more than suitable for the car and provides a wonderful open-air driving experience for those looking for old-school British charm. 

Highlights

• Finished in a period-correct red and black color scheme with a black vinyl interior

• Per the consignor, the car still retains its original engine

• Included are a set of side curtains in addition to a convertible soft top and frame

• First purchased by the consignor's spouse over 65 years ago in 1956, before selling to the neighbor for a brief period only to repurchase the car

• Powered by the 1250 cc XPAG inline-four-cylinder with upgraded Pertronix electronic distributor

• The four-speed manual transmission has been upgraded with a five-speed from a Datsun for more comfortable high-speed cruising, with the four-speed included with the purchase

• A new windshield was installed in 2021, as stated by the consignor

• Please note that while the five-digit odometer displays just under 70,000 miles at the time of cataloging, the true mileage of this MG is unknown

Ownership History

According to the consignor, this 1954 MG was first purchased by their spouse from the original owner in 1956 following its importation from England. The car was then sold but repurchased when it was offered for sale again, where it has remained ever since.
