Description
Following the conclusion of World War Two, Chevrolet resumed civilian vehicle production and introduced their new "Advance Design" pickups in May 1947. These trucks boasted modern features such as vent windows, a restyled grille in 1951, and a single-piece windshield in 1954. Initially powered by the venerable 216 cu-in "Stovebolt" inline-six-cylinder engine, they were later upgraded to the new "Thriftmaster" six-cylinder. In 1954, Chevrolet expanded the options list to include an automatic transmission. These continuous improvements helped Chevrolet maintain its position as the leading truck manufacturer despite fierce competition. Today, these trucks are highly prized among enthusiasts and collectors for their timeless design and simplicity, with a wide range of suppliers still offering support nearly 70 years later.
