Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

Breaking cover at the 1948 London Motorshow, it has been said that many were left flabbergasted by the new XK120 which offered not only jaw-dropping styling but also promised astonishing performance. With a swooping curvaceous design strongly influenced by Jaguar boss William Lyons, perhaps the most exciting part of the new XK120 was the revolutionary new 3.4-liter inline six-cylinder engine equipped with a double-overhead-camshaft rated at 160 horsepower. Priced at $3,940 in the United States, the XK120 was one of the world’s fastest production cars of the time with a top speed of 120 miles per hour which offered performance on par with many exotics that cost twice as much. Fast, beautiful, and successful on the race track, to many the Jaguar XK 120 was the ultimate production sports car of the 1950s and remains as popular today as they were when introduced over 70 years ago.

Ownership History

This vehicle was purchased by a devoted enthusiast in the mid-1970s when it was brought back to his shop in Vermont. Having completed many AACA-winning restorations, the owner was well qualified to perform the meticulous frame-off restoration which was completed in 1984 before being shown at many AACA events in years to follow where it was eventually crowned AACA Senior National First Prize Winner in 1986. In the years to follow, the owner would enjoy this vehicle among his impressive collection at many local shows and also for local coffee runs with fellow enthusiasts.
