Description

In 1949, Chevrolet introduced a modern lineup of cars, replacing its prewar designs. The new lineup comprised a range of models in both the Fleetline and Styleline series, with various body types and prices. The business coupe was the most cost-effective model at $1,300, while the eight-passenger station wagon was the most expensive at $2,200. The only available powertrain option was a 216 cu-in six-cylinder engine paired with a three-speed manual transmission, with an added option of a Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission pared with the 235 cu-in engine for cars was available the following year. In 1951, Chevrolet made a few minor enhancements from the previous year.

Then there was the stylish Bel Air Sport Coupe. The windshield, doors, glass, and trunk were common with the Styleline Deluxe Convertible Coupe; however, the roof, rear quarters and three-piece rear windows were unique. One of the hallmarks of General Motors’ philosophy of “a car for every purse and purpose for every car” is even a Chevrolet had hints of Cadillac style, and that was especially true in the Bel Air. This Bel Air is restored to its great looking original Fathom Green/Aspen Green two-tone color scheme, and highly optioned for comfort and style.
