Having paused automotive production during World War II, the general condition of America’s automotive fleet by 1946 was, to put it mildly, aged. The public was left yearning for new vehicles, and as production lines were switched to peacetime production, the first of these to roll off were those trucks needed to supply the post-war economy. Well-known for producing sturdy and dependable trucks, Ford developed the all-new F-Series of pickup trucks for the 1948 model year. The innovative, streamlined styling would usher in a new era in vehicle styling, leading to new designs over the coming years. These trucks were a leap forward over the predecessors featuring numerous improvements to the comfort inside the cab as well. Decades of improvements have kept Ford the industry leader in truck sales, with their iconic F-Series trucks still being manufactured today and, as of January 2023, the best-selling vehicle in America for the last 46 consecutive years.
