Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

In the years immediately following the end of World War II, Chevrolet went back to its 1942 tooling to jump start its passenger car business. The public was starved for new cars and sales kept pace with production, resulting in cars that changed little for several years as Chevrolet built as many vehicles as possible.

The 1947 model year marked the first full production year since 1942, and Chevrolet aimed to capture the market with fresh, stylish designs. The Fleetline was available in two main body styles: the Aerosedan, a two-door fastback, and the Sportmaster, a four-door sedan. Both versions featured smooth, flowing lines and a distinctive chrome grille, which became a hallmark of the era. Under the hood was a 216.5 cubic-inch (3.5-liter) inline-six engine, producing 90 horsepower, paired with a three-speed manual transmission. Independent front suspension with leaf springs at the rear offered a comfortable ride, and the Fleetline's plush seating and well-appointed dashboard added to its pleasant personality.

The ’47 Fleetline’s combination of elegance, practicality, and affordability made it a popular choice for American families. This one has been completely customized, including swapping its original engine and gearbox for a 350 cu-in V8 and automatic transmission.
