Description

Cadillac boasted its 1947 Series Sixty-Two was “America's most distinguished motor car.” The second generation of the Series 62, which ran from 1942 to 1947, was noted for its elegant styling and advanced features. This era was significant as it represented Cadillac's return to civilian car production after World War II.

Under the hood, the 1947 Series 62 Convertible was powered by a smooth 346 cubic-inch V8 engine, producing 150 horsepower. This engine was paired with Hydra-Matic Drive automatic transmission, which was a cutting-edge feature at the time. The car's generous 129-inch wheelbase contributed to its smooth ride.

The exterior design of the 1947 Series 62 Convertible was characterized by its sleek lines, chrome accents, and a distinctive “eggcrate” grille. Inside, the car offered a luxurious cabin, and power windows were offered as a factory option as part of Cadillac's Hydro-Lectric system, which used hydraulic pressure to operate both the windows and convertible top.

“In all Cadillac history,” Cadillac’s brochure proclaimed, “there has never been such a perfect blending of quality and practicality as is offered in the 1947 Cadillac Series 62.”
